Undermathic ‎– Return To Childhood

Tympanik Audio, 2009
April 16, 2014

Undermathic made his debut with a very particular sound that could be vaguely described as melodic, rhythmic – sampled, industrial/idm. Wow. It seems like he constructs his tracks over a repeated sample base, which is enriched gradually with melodies and glitches. Also some tracks on some parts do have a taste of post-rock and sequenced ambience.

“Return to Childhood” is influenced by industrial music. This is something that we will not encounter so strong in Undermathic’s later albums. Although we mentioned before that this album is loaded with samples, we must accuse ourselves for undermining Undermathic’s excellent compositions and general orchestration that balance the overall outcome. But a feeling of repetition cannot go unnoticed while listening to certain tracks, as well as the feeling that some of them could be shorter in time length.

The album’s highlights may be "Keep out no entry", "Understanding", "Submissive Woman", "Lighthouse", "People Pass Each Other" and "Return to Childhood". Aren't they?
