Tzolk'in - Tzolk'in

Divine Comedy Records, 2004
Jan 7, 2015

Tzolk'in comprises of Flint Glass and Empusae. It is an ongoing duo inspired from the mayan scripts. Tzolk’in is the name bestowed on the mayan calendar. The duo’s track names derive from days of the calendar and its whole approach is marked with a ritual and tribal feel.

Tzolk’in preserves the industrial - power rhythm mechanics with which both artists emerged on the scene. Haunting aesthetics, something of new age melodies and beautifully calculated rhythms build up the unique sound of the duo which characterizes them until now. Each track evolves on its own way through layers and rhythmic emphasis to a deep, danceable experience. Thought it may seem easy to lose track and feel repeated, the duo has carefully constructed its sequence to avoid any drawback.

Σε στρογγυλό κόσμο η επίπεδη ζωή έχει και το ενδιαφέρον της. Μέρες σαν και αυτές η εσχατολογία φαντάζει κοντινή. Ωχ αμάν, τι μας περιμένει αύριο; Με το χιούμορ να τρίζει τα δόντια του από την παγωμάρα, το γέλιο θα μας φύγει πιο γρήγορα αυτή τη φορά. Αλλά στη θέση του θεατή βρισκόμαστε, να μην το απολαύσουμε όσο μπορούμε;

With this first self-titled release, Tzolk’in marks its own way on power rhythm and with tracks like 'Etz’nab', 'Kawak', 'Kaban' and 'Lamal' it surely deserve its followers.
