Plaid - Scintilli

This time with Plaid, we are going to focus on playful and abstract melodies and multiple synth arrangements rather than "strange" and "intelligent" beats. We are very close to orchestrated music here. "Scintilli" comes in different approaches and moods, often optimistic and joyful but mostly sophisticated. It must be our mainstream-ier post so far. Well, we like the album.

If you have heard Plaid before you will surely find yourself comfortable with their distinctive style. A nice welcome in this particular album is the synth-voice that accompanies many tracks with great result. But Plaid's difference is once again spotted on their composition possibilities.

Σκυλιά, γατιά, πουλιά και άνθρωποι φωνάζουν ολόγυρα. Δεκάδες διαφορετικοί ήχοι προσπαθούν να σε αποσυντονίσουν. Είσαι όμως συγκεντρωμένος, παρότι ήδη 5 ώρες όρθιος. Πρέπει να σαι σε επαγρύπνηση να ανταποκριθείς στον ήχο και την κίνηση που απευθύνεται σε σένα. Μην ξεχάσεις να χαμογελάσεις στα μεγάλα δίποδα που σου μοιάζουν. Εσύ όμως θα θελες να χαμογελάς στα μικρά. Σε αυτά που όπως και συ (με λίγο θεωρητική επεξεργασία) βρεθήκατε εδώ με αντάλλαγμα κάποια τάλαρα. Βέβαια εσύ κάτι θα πάρεις πίσω. Και είναι κρίμα, γιατί αυτά, αν και είναι ο τελευταίος τροχός της αμάξης εδώ πέρα, είναι παράλληλα και το μεγαλύτερο εμπόρευμα. Στην τελική τους χαμογελάει το αφεντικό και συ παίζει να τους ρίξεις και καμία κλωτσιά.

"Scintilli" can be described as IDM just because its creators are addressed widely with this genre. Also a little techno, but we will go for plain experimental electronica. It is experimental not on the mechanics though, but on melodies and keys.

With "Missing", "Eye Robot", "Thank", "Unbank", "Tender Hooks", "Founded", "Talk To Us", "Upgrade" and "At Last" we have very few casualties on the suggested songs.
