Kattoo was once, the one half of "Beefcake", a duo featured on our first post. Well their "disbanding" happened a long time ago but, good for us, with Kattoo going on among our side we don't seem to miss that much...yet (the other half followed housier themes).
Megrim has 20 number- named tracks (with lots of intermissions don't worry) all wrapped as a single recording. Beats, break beats and mechanic hip hop rhythms support an album filled with daring symphonic/ kinda classical compositions and eastern sounds all on a dark, cinematic and melancholic (yet sometimes melodramatic) motive. Megrim reaches the boundaries of a concept album.
Κάπου πρέπει να πιαστείς για να ξεκινήσεις κάτι. Μπορεί να μη το διάλεξες και ποτέ. Να ήρθε έτσι. Και όλα αυτά τα χρόνια ίσως να έχεις ξεχάσει και από «πού» ήρθες και πως. Παίζει να μην θυμάσαι καν τις γραμμές που κάθε φορά πέρναγες. Ασχέτως αν είσαι ευχαριστημένος με το σήμερα (σου) να γυρίσεις πίσω δε μπορείς. Να κάθεσαι να μετανιώνεις δεν έχει και νόημα εξάλλου. Κάνε ότι σου κόβει στο μέλλον. Αλλά μια αρχή, αυτό το ξεκίνημα, μπορείς να το (καθ)ορίσεις; Κι αν έχει κάποιο νόημα είναι για να ξετυλίξεις αυτό το κουβάρι της λήθης. Μπας και κόψει λίγο παραπάνω την επόμενη φορά. Όλο αυτό μπορεί να φέρνει ημικρανίες φτάνει να μην αρχίσεις τα παυσίπονα και τα αντικαταθλιπτικά.
Don't underestimate Kattoo because he is a science on beat and rhythmic manipulation. Even on Beefcake mainstream-alike and composition focused tracks had big moments, but here as Kattoo, Volker (the artist's name) gives his attention to notes and orchestration rather than beats.
Tracks "3", "4", "6", "8", "10", "14", "15", "16", "18" and "20" will get the repeats they worth for, but make sure you listen the whole album.
